Dr Sonia is a Ph.D. research professional with a track record of setting up technical facilities and laboratories to develop high quality polyols with focus on reduced cost and improved sales. Travelled and lived globally (U.S, Japan, Switzerland, Spain and Thailand) to attain higher education, work, attend technical trainings and present papers at conferences. She has a B.Tech degree in Chemical Engineering from A.C Tech, Anna University, Chennai followed by a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University, Philadelphia. At Drexel, she was awarded the Dean’s fellowship for the first semester, Second semester onwards she worked as a Research Assistant with Prof. Nily Dan in the field of colloids and nano-materials. During her masters program, she also worked at GeorgiaTech, Atlanta with Dr. Rina Tannenbaum. Sonia returned to India after her masters. She was then awarded the Woman Scientist Fellowship award from DST, Gov. of India for a nanotechnology project conceptualized by her. She worked on the project at IIT Bombay with late Prof. Kartic C. Khilar and simultaneously did her PhD in Chemical Engineering from IITB under the guidance of Prof. Jayesh Bellare. In the final year of her PhD at IITB she got placed through campus interviews at UBE Technical Center Asia Ltd. as a scientific researcher and project leader. Sonia worked with UBE for two years and then she returned to India and started freelance consulting, workshops on science and nanotechnology in schools and colleges as an outreach program. Currently, Sonia has three ventures and is the Managing Partner, Sosh (education consultng),CEO, Neeson Technologies Ltd.
